#ManyMiniThoughts2
Human emotions fascinate me. I am engaged in a constant endeavour to keep myself from getting entangled in the labyrinthe of human emotions, preferring to observe it from a distance. But it is like trying to become an expert at swimming without ever getting into the water.
Of shoe bites and new beginnings
We go to the shoe store and buy the
pair we love best. We try them out, walk around in them, check it in the mirror
and then we buy it. Satisfied that this is what we want. So, my first step into a new world which has
lots of promises, started with a shoe bite, from a shoe carefully bought. The
new shoes cut into your skin at first. One can throw the pair away and never
wear it again or one can find a way to work around it.

Of Trains and Rains...
So, I was coming back to Calcutta for the last time in a long time. And I stared out of the windows into the greens and then the railway tracks. It is mesmerising in a very peculiar way. You see, these trains have their destinations all chalked out. There are planned detours that they take, get back on track and eventually reach their destination, taking along with it passengers to places where they are meant to be.
So, these trains take these detours and sometimes show you lovely sights, sometimes not so good ones but nonetheless they need to take the detours, change tracks in order to get back on track and eventually reach the destination. My one year at JU was a detour and it showed me sights I had never seen before, helped me gain perspective. And just like trains slow down a bit when they change tracks, I am slowing down just a little to make a smooth transition towards Law School.
These days the Calcutta weather has been throwing surprises. Since the morning you see an overcast sky. So, when you do go out you arm yourself with raincoats and umbrellas. The skies get so dark that you think it could rain any moment and you had been preparing for it since the morning. Yet, when it does finally rain it takes you by surprise. The first few drops are bound to fall on you, you are bound to get caught off guard before you shoot open your umbrella. I had been preparing for my dreams for years now. And even then, the first few drops caught me off guard.
So, I really have to go? I really have to shoot open my umbrella and step into the rain?
So, there might be puddles and muck on my way? How do I find my way through all of that?
I had been preparing for it. So, am I really ready?
Maybe. Perhaps.
But I have already stepped into the rain and I must march my way into it as the raindrops hit against my umbrella.

These are a few of my favourite things
Am I the only one or are there more people who tend to associate music with certain days and specific life situations.
Anyway, here is a list of a few of my favourite things and songs uncannily related to them.
You ever have those moments when you sit with or without a cup of hot beverage, stare into the distance and think of little things seemingly insignificant; and the thoughts, of their own accord, form a strange train and meandering take you to strange places inside your head, that you did not know existed. Sometimes they take you to happy places and at others, to places with a tinge of grey. There's a place - Beatles.
I have always found bridges to be not just fascinating but also, in a strange way, romantic. Being a city person, I get to see very little open sky. Somehow bridges provide a bit of that. Sunset from a bridge while coming home after a long day gives me strange joy.
Harder than easy by Jack Savoretti
" At the end of the day when you're lonely,
After begging to be left alone,
You can look at this world as your kingdom,
If you want you can make me your home "
I do not know if anyone feels this way but mornings and nights both have a distinct smell of their own. It is uniquely intoxicating, energy-giving and soothing, all at the same time.
Over the hills and far away by Led Zeppelin
"Many dreams come true
And some have silver linings,
I live for my dreams
And a pocket full of gold "
And then of course there is the smell of wet earth that is universally adored.
Traffic snarls are a regular at metros and Calcutta is not an exception - I play this strange game to pass my time. I like to call it people-watching. It is so much fun - looking at unknown faces and conjuring little life stories for them. Random faces in a random place with strange stories.
People are strange
" When you're strange, faces come out of the rain,
when you're strange no one remembers your name..."

Since Sec 66A, IT Act is gone ...
There is such conch-shell (read:boo-boozela) blowing all around about a certain "women empowerment" activist being back. The poor guy has been tormented enough - by social media memes (You surely have seen the ones about Chota Bheem!), intellectuals, sarcastic people, lets-shout-out-loud-and-chew-the-microphone kind of local politicians, people who do not understand politics and the rest who pretend to - basically, the guy has been bashed by Arnab and his nation, on Prime Time Television and off it. Oh and I forgot to include in the list the "other leaders within the Party"(yeah they exist too!)
Anyway. You get the drift.
Remember what our mummies used to tell us after those school annual concerts, where we would fall in the middle of the stage, forget the dialogues and start crying? - Beta, participation is important.
And to compensate for the embarrassment - remember the ice cream? The park trip? Well, you see babies of all shapes and sizes need them. You get the drift.
But he is back. Yay!
Remember how even after months of the concert debacle we would insist (within our enclosure) and tell all our relatives how the forgetting of dialogue was actually the teachers' fault, how because the shoes didn't fit well, we fell. You get the drift.
Remember those times when there was that one kid you hated. He contested against you and the class chose him as the monitor. Oh, the force with which you said, "The back-benchers gave him chocolates. He will just let them talk now. " The drift. You get it, right?
What only few have realised thus far is that, the power lies with the Parivaar. Star Plus and all.
So, here is a guy who needs a Parivaar, who needs to get married to a susheel Indian girl! (Hear the Shehnai now instead of the "booboozela"?!)
But you see, he is a little stubborn.
He keeps saying this - Mumma mere "Party" kara de tu! ( See the full video, please)
Okay. That's it. :P
